Maggie Bags is a job-readiness, micro-enterprise offered to Stability First Magdalene House residents. Dedicated volunteers and residents collaborate to produce beautifully crafted, one-of-a-kind bags. When you purchase a Maggie Bag, you directly support Stability First's mission.

Our Story

At Maggie Bags, we carry a story woven with threads of love, resilience, and hope. Our journey began when Susan Hobson, a passionate and skilled seamstress, partnered with the compassionate quilters from the Morgan County School house Quilters Guild. Inspired by the women at the Magdalene House, they set out to create something remarkable—a project that would empower these women, transforming their lives forever.Maggie Bags are more than just handbags; they are agents of change, representing the strength and potential of each woman involved in their creation. With every purchase of a Maggie Bag, you not only receive a stylish and high-quality accessory, but you also become a part of a greater mission to extend hope to those in need.

Magdalene House

Magdalene House is a transitional house in Morgan County that offers individualized recovery programming for women facing addiction and crises. The Magdalene House recovery residence has moved away from its early roots as a shelter and is now a structured program, with guidelines and a level system. This recovery house offers Christian-centered groups, I.O.T., case management services, and a skills-readiness program, called Maggie Bags. Because we understand how challenging early recovery can be to navigate, we ask that the women focus solely on their recovery for an extended period of time prior to finding gainful employment. We also understand that recovery is a process, which is why residents can stay at the Magdalene House for up to two years.

Stability First

Stability First is the parent ministry that oversees both Stability First Magdalene House, Stability First Foundation House, and Maggie Bags.

Stability First Mission: Putting Christian principles into action, by providing transformational individualized programs and transitional housing for men and women seeking recovery from addiction and life-controlling challenges.

STABILITY FIRST
